Bears? Where?!

Black Bear Awareness at Grizzly Falls Campground

Central Oregon is Black Bear country. For your personal safety:

1. DO NOT approach a bear if you see one. Stop, slowly back away, and leave. If the bear has spotted you, make yourself large and create a commotion. DO NOT RUN.
2. If a bear attacks you, fight back! Aim for the nose. It will eventually back off.
3. After spotting a bear, head back to your campsite immediately (if hiking). Do not proceed.
4. DO NOT bury your food or leave your food or garbage outside. Burn your food and dispose of your garbage in our bear-proof dumpsters. Lock your remaining food up in your car. Food attracts bears!
5. Tell a ranger where you saw the bear.
6. Keep your dogs leashed at all times.
